Teaching Experience

Greg Catellier began his teaching at Ohio State University and continued it at Emory University. He has taught a wide range of classes including all levels of modern technique, classes in de sign and lighting, fitness for dancers, and more. He has choreographed on the students as well. He has been invited around the Southeast to teach contact improvisation workshops with Kristin O’Neil.

Modern Technique

Greg has taught all levels of modern technique at Emory University as well as multiple ACDA conferences. His methodology focuses on a strong relationship in and out of the floor and a comfortability with inversions.


Principles of Design

Housed as a co class between theater and dance, principles of design is a fundamental class in learning about elements of a show.


Lighting for Dancers

An elective headed by Greg, lighting for dancers. Specifically discussed are programs such as Vectorworks, Q-Lab, and lighting and sound boards. Final project is lighting a piece in the spring Emory Dance showcase.


Contact Improvisation

Greg has co-taught contact improvisation at Emory University for numerous years with Kristin O’Neil both as a somatic practice and world dance form. They have been invited to teach their methodology in Florida and at Bates Dance Festival. They focus on points of contact and skills such as lofting and rolling.

Greg is one of my favorite professors at Emory. He gives honest feedback and ample support for his students to come into their own as artists. He is both creative and organized in how he approaches performances and is a star figure in the Emory dance program.
